Waterfall Hunting in Northern Wisconsin

Bayfield and the South Shore of Lake Superior are filled with beautiful waterfalls tucked into quiet forests and sandstone canyons. Many of our sailing guests ask for recommendations on other adventures to enjoy while they are here, so we put together a guide to some of the best waterfall stops within driving distance of Bayfield and Madeline Island. These make great day trips before or after time on the water with us, and they pair well with a stay at one of our lodging options including North Channel Cabin and Sailor Springs glamping. Kayaking guests from Whitecap Kayak also often plan these stops on rest days between paddles.

Waterfall hunting is a perfect way to experience the rugged landscapes of northern Wisconsin. Each trail has its own personality, from quiet mossy creeks to roaring cascades. Below is a look at some favorites.
